AC Trip Report - 5/29

I got to AC on Friday night late. Due to family obligations I didn't get to play any poker until Saturday night. I wanted to play the 8:15 tourney at Harrah's but it was canceled. Instead I played 4/8 with mini blinds. I never heard of mini blinds before, but it was 4/8 limit, with the blinds at 1/2 instead of the normal 2/4. This meant it was cheap to see the flop and if you hit the flop there was a decent pot. My hand of the night was a pair of 7's. There was a raise and a reraise so it was $10 to me. I called and checked dark on the flop. The flop was 7,7,x! Two players bet every street and the crowd oh and awed when I showed quads.

I then played the Midnight tourney. Harrahs has decent cheap tourneys. They are either $70 and 15 minute blinds or $80 and 20 minute blinds. In either case you start with 10k in chips so worse case you get a good 3 hours of poker.

I played 3 of the tourneys, but did not cash. (one final table). My best tourney hand was 88. I was a short stack and went all in. Then the guy next to me called and the next player went all in for 10k or so and the guy next to me called. I showed my 8's and they both showed pocket rockets. The 8 came on the flop and I trippled up. Both of them looked stunned.

Sunday night I had a free night at Harrahs. In the morning I sat by the pool and then took the bus back.
