New Yankee Stadium - Review

No Poker Content !

I went to the new Yankee Stadium on Saturday with my friend George. Forgetting that we paid $90 each to see the Yankees lose 22-4 here is my review of the new $1.5 Billion stadium:

We was robbed !

The stadium is the most expensive in the US and the second most expensive in the world behind Wembley Stadium in London. At first glance this is not surprising since construction costs in NY are high, but the Mets were able to build a stadium over the same time period for a “cheap” $800 million and they got the Shake Shack and Blue Smoke BBQ as concessions.

Pac Bell Park in San Francisco has the water view as a wow factor. The new Phillies stadium is impressive and has Tony Lukes!

The new Yankee Stadium was built to look like to old Yankee Stadium. They spent a lot of money on video displays of the Yankee legends. The wow factor at The House That Ruth Built was that Babe Ruth actually played there!

One advantage is the bleachers are no longer blocked off from the rest of the stadium, they are also no longer alcohol free.

The numbers:

The field dimensions are virtually the same as the old stadium

The capacity is 4,561 less and the new stadiums capacity includes standing room “seats”

The seats width increased between 1 and 2 inches and the legroom increased between 3.5 and 9.5 inches

All of the seats now have cup holders – this was a big selling point of the American cars v Japanese cars several years ago, and that didn’t turn out so well!

The big difference is an additional 37 luxury boxes and 410 “party suites”.
