Better late than never? (and with spelling errors)
We left Thursday night after work and drove straight to Showboat to check in and then to Borgata to play. They didn't have 5/10 limit so I played 1/2 NL. My hand of the night was when I rivered the nut flush on a board that paired on the turn. The first player went all in for $25, I bumped it to $75 and then the guy to my left went all in for more than me. I paused and thought my flush was good. I called for $250 or so and he showed a 10 high flush.
On Friday I played the $300 plus $40 NLHE tourney at Harrahs. You got 10K in chips, the blinds started at 25/50 and the rounds were 45 minutes. I sold 60% of my buyin for 60% of any profits. I got pocket K's early and raised and got one caller. The flop had a Q and a J, I c bet and the caller called. The turn was another J. The warning bell was ringing but I c bet again. This time the caller went in to the tank and then folded. I was now over 15k in chips. I made it to the first break and then in round 3 my table broke. Early on at the new table there was a limped pot that I called with J9 of hearts. The flop came K,7,4 of hearts. The villian bet 600 and I raised to 2,100, he called. The turn was a second K, I bet another 2,100 and he went all in. I put him on a set of K's and called. He had K4 for a boat and I was out.
We then went to the Taj. I played 2/4 omaha with a half kill and the 5/10 with a full kill when the 2/4 table broke. Darko joined me at the table and we played until Chris' bus arrived and then we broke for dinner.
After dinner Darko took a "nap". Chris played 2/5 NL and I went back to my same 5/10 O8 seat. Omaha is a funny game. Wherever I have played it there is a cast of characters. At the Taj there were two old ladies in half wheelchair / half walkers. One commented that the other was running well. She responded wht don't you just give me the evil eye. First woman said your not Italian what do you know about the evil eye. Second woman responded that she was "Italian by injection". I responded ladies this was a G rated table before you two showed up!
I went on a 30 minute heater with one dealer where I could do no wrong. Scoop, Scoop, Scoop. Then I missed my low when an Ace counterfitted me, but I still won the high with AA! When I folded a hand the table was shocked that I didn't win every hand. At 1am or so I got up and sat behind Chris. She had a great hand, KQ on a Q44 board. She called a $375 river bet and when she called her opponent just mucked.
We went back to the room and Darko was still napping. The next morning Rip Van Darko finally woke up. We had breakfast at the Taj and then went to the Borgata. Chris was debating taking the bus then or playing first. I offered to drive her to the bus but poker won out. I sat down at a new 1/2 table for $200. First hand I got JQ on a 8JQ board. I bet 20, villian made it 40, I made it 140, villian went all in. I said 9,10? well at least I had outs and called. He showed the 9,10 and none of my outs hit. I was down $200 in less than 5 minutes. I went and cried to Darko and Chris and then I rebought. Good thing because I cashed in for a $51 profit.
Then Darko and I went to the Showboat for the B-52's concert. I am offically too old for general admission concert "seats". We got there at 7pm and the B-52's didn't come on to 9:30. It was fun to hear Love Shack and Rock Lobster live, but it was not worth the time or the crowds. After the show I dropped Darko off at the bus station.
On Sunday my friend George and James came to AC. James is engaged to be married and brought the future Mrs. James (Sarah) and her 2 year old daughter Alaura. Alaura was the hit of the party. First we went to dinner and I presented her with every kids tshirt that said AC on it. She ate spaghetti with her hands and was completly covered in sauce by the end of the meal. After dinner we went to the Trop. The "adults" played blackjack and slots and Aluara and I tossed change into the fountain. No one won but I think we had more fun losing!
All in it was a great weekend and I was up almost $500.
